Corum watches are surely something you will not be able to forget after the first sight, due to their rather distinctive, and sometimes very playful designs. And the year of 2010 is certainly special for Corum, which is marked by two major anniversaries, including the 30 years of its legendary Golden Bridge baguette movement, by presenting two models in the Corum Bridges collection — the Miss Golden Bridge and the Ti-Bridge Tourbillon. For Christmas time, Corum also pays tribute to its classical collection Romvlvs, by revealing an exceptional jewellery timepiece, bearing a tourbillon movement crafted on sapphire plate and bridges.

Miss Golden Bridge

Launched for the first time at the watchmaking fair in Basel, the Miss Golden Bridge is adorned with diamonds for the festive Christmas season. The 90 full-cut size diamonds reveal the finesse of the case revisited in a feminine manner highlighting the magic of the movement and its wheels in motion. These seem to dance between two slender bridges made of fine gold that are finely hand-decorated by Corum’s master engravers.

The 0.8 carats of the diamonds will dress ladies’ wrists perfectly for the festive evenings at the end of the year. The case, open above, below and also on its sides, still plays on the effects of transparency and allows the movement to be admired from all sides thanks to its sapphire glass. The slender and curved tonneau shaped case houses the famous baguette movement. The horns were removed to allow the alligator strap to flawlessly integrate into the case, keeping the continuity, like a cuff watch. The winding crown at 6 o’clock accentuates the refined character of this contemporary and elegant case. Similarly to the open-worked hands, the bezel has been slimmed to the point of being discrete to emphasize the main subject of this masterpiece: the caliber CO113 which ensures 40 hours power reserve. With its contemporary dimensions (43 x 21mm), the diamond set Miss Golden Bridge case is presented in 18ct red or white gold and is available in a limited production only.

 
Ti-Bridge Tourbillon Black

This new Ti-Bridge Tourbillon for the Christmas celebrations is in a black coat with understated elegance. While the grey titanium version was presented with a polished case, the all black model features a satin and black PVD finish. The flange, the plate and the bridges crafted in « ARCAP » are coated with black ruthenium. The deep black entirety highlights the grey key of the flying tourbillon.

The new baguette movement topped with a flying tourbillon figured out as major novelty in 2010 in the Corum Bridges collection. Without upper bridge, the escapement beating at 21’600 vibrations per hour seems to be floating over the baguette movement. The whole is maintained by elements definitely considered as a unique esthetical signature of the Ti-Bridge; two “cross bars” made in “ARCAP” suspend the movement in the center of the case. A spectacular effect of weightlessness radiates from the timepiece.

Esthetical and technical prowess, the plate and bridges are also cut from “ARCAP”. This new alloy made of copper and nickel is completely non-magnetic, anti-corrosive and allows for complex finishing. This futuristic material permits traditional decorations like satin-finish and chamfer, which contrasts with the two barrels’ sun-brushed decoration. This mechanical hand-wound CO 022 movement is endowed with a 72-hour power reserve.

The tonneau-shaped case is water-resistant up to 50 meters, bearing generous dimensions: 42.5 mm by 41.5 mm. Cut from titanium, the case gives pride of place to the caliber and its moving tourbillon, visible from all sides, including the case-back. The model comes with two bracelets — black rubber and leather. The Ti-Bridge Tourbillon Black is available in a limited edition of only 83 pieces.

Romvlvs Billionaire Tourbillon

Introduced in 1966, the Romvlvs model makes reference to watchmaking art in its purest form, and has made its mark on the history of watchmaking. This model is, as a matter of fact, the first timepiece that displays a dial without hourmarkers and having the index engraved on the bezel. The Romvlvs collection was enriched in 2008 by two major complications, to interpreting the classical codes of the brand: a perpetual calendar and a retrograde annual calendar. The Romvlvs Billionnaire Tourbillon truly demonstrates the Corum’s remarkable talents.

Ultimate expression of refinement and brilliance the Romvlvs Billionaire Tourbillon stages the tourbillon movement crafted in sapphire bridges and plate in an amphitheatre of diamonds. Endowed with a 90-hour power reserve, the tourbillon prevailing on its sapphire crystal throne is a truly exceptional creation. The mainplate and the three bridges are made of sapphire crystal, a very delicate and brittle material.

The white gold case, framing the movement like a genuine work of art, has got 164 diamonds in total. True to the aesthetical codes of the Romvlvs collections since 1966, the bezel bears the Roman Numerals drawn by 44 baguette diamonds using the invisible diamond setting technique. At the heart of this diamond fairy of 4.7ct, this stunning movement is beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour. Water-resistant to 30 meters, the inimitable cambered case typical to the Romvlvs, measures 45mm. Making the Romvlvs Billionaire Tourbillon requires extreme precision and high-end knowledge of watchmaking. It’s in a limited production of 5 pieces only.
